Richard DeFonzo as Liza

at the age of eight saw Cabaret for the first time and told his mother that he wanted to meet that lady, never imagining that he actually would be impersonating Liza some years later. He totally identifies with her and when performing brings her electrifying stage personality to life when belting out such numbers as Cabaret, Some People and the show stopping New York, New York. When interpreting one of Liza's ballads, Richard possesses a sense of vulnerability that we have learned to identify with her legendary magnetic persona.
Richard recently performed to a standing ovation at The 13th Annual Reel Awards at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. In May he's been invited to perform at an impersonators convention in Las Vegas. Also this May Richard will be performing his new cabaret show Liza's Back! This Time In Her Own Act! at Mama Rose's Place in New York City. He was featured on the "VH1 special Boys Will Be Girls". Richard entertained at Bette Midler's annual Halloween bash, he received great press in the several of New York's major papers for his performance at David Gest's bachelor party, and played at The Tropicana Casino and Resort. This past holiday season Richard performed at Tavern On The Green. Additionally he has performed at various hot spots in New York such as FEZ, Danny's Skylight Room, The Cutting Room, Therapy, The Triad, The Duplex, Lips, The Supper Club on Broadway, Barracuda, Splash and Webster Hall. DeFonzo and his Liza eye lashes have recently performed to raves in London, Holland, and Brussels. Also in New York he had a run at The East Of Eighth restaurant, performed for Eloise at The Plaza Hotel and hosted The International Television Radio and Film Holiday Party at The Waldorf Astoria. Every summer Richard also entertains on Fire Island and the wonderful town of New Hope. He generously donates his time to AIDS benefits, which include Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, The Actors Fund and F.A.C.T. At any given time Richard can be called upon to entertain around the world, whether it's a private event or a celebration all audiences will be transcended into the art of illusion that he embodies as Liza.
